Have you had a recent or long since forgotten traumatic injury?

Perhaps a car accident, falling out of a tree or even landing hard on your bottom whilst skiing? – If so, you may still be suffering the after effects…

If symptoms do not resolve fully, Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD) can develop, leading to chronic or late Whiplash Syndrome: “the presence of pain, restriction of motion, or other symptoms at six months or more after the injury, sufficient to hinder return to normal activities.”

Examination

Over the years I have noticed with trauma that the body protects the area by ‘enveloping’ around the trauma site – a gentle approach is required as the body begins to unwind and dissipate the forces that impacted previously. I will examine the area in detail, seeing how the past trauma and the impacted forces may still be playing a role in your current pain, and the surrounding areas. I will explain clearly what is happening and how I can help.

Your Treatment

I will use a wide range of safe and effective pain free treatments, depending on your age, fitness and diagnosis, tailored specifically for you. It will involve a variety of techniques to reduce pain, muscle spasm and inflammation.

My aim is to increase movement and reduce the pressure of compressed nerves and other structures, and provide you with the latest Pilates based exercises to maintain your recovery.

“After I sustained a nasty back injury, Michelle has been brilliant. Her skills and professionalism have worked wonders and I am now looking forward to getting back on the golf course! Highly recommend her services.”

“I fell on my coccyx in mid-February and was in absolute agony, unable to sit, walk, lie down or do anything properly. Having visited the doctors and leaving with instructions to take paracetamol, codeine and anti-inflammatories, which didn’t seem to be helping I decided to seek my own help.

“Being an active person, I was very concerned about my restriction of movement and worried that I wouldn’t be able to return to my weekly dance classes. Michelle conducted a very thorough consultation and explained to me in detail what she found, how she could treat me and was very honest about the potential outcomes.

“I am now enjoying yoga and am sure that I will be returning to dance imminently thanks to the treatments Michelle has carried out, which gave me almost instant relief. Not only working on the spine as you would expect, she also found that my diaphragm was sticking which was strange as I occasionally had a twinge in the exact place she released it – especially after driving long distances – but hadn’t mentioned this to her!

“I will certainly be returning to Michelle regularly for maintenance visits to keep my body working as it should and I would recommend Michelle without hesitation.”
